Ruchi
Soya Industries Limited (“RSIL” or the “Company”)
is the premier company of the Ruchi Group. It is the largest oilseed crusher
,importer of edible oils,exporter of oilseed meals and producer of textured
soya protein (“TSP”) in India.

The
Company envisages an investment program spread over two years that
includes the following components. Construction of Greenfield 700
tons per day (TPD) oil refinery and 200 TPD hydrogenation plant
at Patalganga and a 1000 TPD soyabean crushing and 200 TPD oil refinery
at Butibori - 30 Kms from Nagpur in Maharashtra; modernization and
upgrading of existing manufacturing facilities, purchase of new
capital equipment for selected installations, provision of working
capital, and acquisition of other, existing operations. The project
aims to take advantage of the increasingly growing demand for edible
oils in India ,especially the trend towards the packaged edible
oil. The proposed financing from International Finance Corporation
(IFC) will be used in two main areas: The first is to finance two
new facilities: a port based refinery at Patalganga , a crushing
plant and associated refinery at Butibori near Nagpur both in the
state of Maharashtra. The second part is to finance the Company’s
maintenance capex and permanent working capital, and upgrade edible
oil plants and refineries that may be acquired. The total project
cost is estimated at Indian Rupees (INR) 2,762.7 million (Approx
US$ 60.9 million equivalent). The proposed IFC investment is a loan
of INR 1,350 million (Approx US29.70 $ million equivalent) for its
own account.An Environmental Review Summary Report for the project
has been prepared by IFC as part of its environmental and social
due diligence. The Environmental Review Summary report will be available
for public review starting February,20 2004 on the IFC Website and
at the following places :
